The trail to Dobsons Cave starts at the end of Buxton Avenue in Buxton. This 3.5km return track is considered moderately challenging and takes around 1 hour to complete. It’s a popular spot for hiking, walking and running, though you can often find moments of solitude, especially during quieter times of the day.
While the route to Dobsons Cave is technically off-track, a faint path has formed over time through the grassland, helping to guide the way.
The cave itself is more of a sandstone overhang than a deep cavern, but it's a picturesque location surrounded by lush ferns and dense foliage. A small waterfall cascades over the cliff edge, though it’s most impressive after heavy rainfall.
