The orchards of Lakesland grow a wide range of stone fruit, including persimmons, a popular export to Asia. The district is most famous for producing the first cherries to reach Sydney markets each year. The property, known today, as Mowbray Park was purchased in 1876 by William Baker who successfully claimed the title Baron Mowbray.
