About BARBUG
We meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month for our regular rides which are published in Push On, an online magazine for the members and BUGS of Bicycle NSW
We also meet every Sunday at Rest A While Reserve Bargo (bike racks near station) at 8.30am. These rides are flexible in time and distance, depending on who turns up. Everyone is welcome, but it is best to call (Sally: 4684 1444) or email if you would like to join us.
BarBug had it's first ride in February 04 and has a small but dedicated core of enthusiastic riders. The rides are becoming more adventurous as riders improve their fitness and confidence.
Everyone is welcome, as long as they have a reliable bike and a helmet. There is no cost involved, except for that well deserved coffee after the ride.
Our rides are graded using the same system used in the Australian Cyclist and the Push On magazines. The grading gives a guide as to the difficulty or ease of a ride as well as details like traffic hazard etc. This is a useful way to help families decide if the ride is suitable for children.
Riding with a BUG is a good way to meet people, enjoy some exercise and learn about the local environment. The "safety in numbers" aspect is also and advantage for those who are unused to riding in traffic.
BUGS are registered with Bicycle NSW and are insured under their banner. Bicycle NSW advises that everyone who cycles regularly should take out a BNSW membership, which includes $20,000,000 insurance and many other benefits.
